All
the rehabilitation of this old plantation house was done by an
expedition that went down in late August, about ten volunteers,
(along with about three or four locals they hired to help them)
did it in about six working days. We have several possible uses
for this building, none of which we had thought of until after
our expedition in June:
1-
Let the orphans move into it before we get the main building completed.
Though only 1,400 square feet, it would still be better than the
800 square feet they presently have, and it would give them a
ton more room outside in which they could safely play and run.
2-
Have adoptive families stay in it when they come to pick up their
children.
3-
Have future work expedition crews stay in it when they come to
work on the main building. Madam Duncan is getting a bit tired
of having the work crews take over her quarters.
4-
Have future students who are working on externships such as social
work, nursing, agronomy, engineering, etc. stay in it. It also
might serve as a place for missionary couples.
The total rehabilitation costs thus far have been $8,500 with
about another $2,000 to go.

Thanks
to all of the many volunteers, the work is getting done at a very
fast pace... |
